Targeted SEO climbs Mount Snowdon!

As our first major team event we wanted to do something special and a little bit different. It just so happens that one of our clients offers guided hikes up to the summit of Mount Snowdon.

Climbing the rankings with Walk Snowdonia

Targeted SEO have worked with Tom at Walk Snowdonia over the last several months, providing a content marketing strategy and SEO consulting service.

Tourism is a really enjoyable industry to work in, as it allows you to expand your knowledge of the sector or niche.

Caroline, our SEO consultant has been researching new topics and providing copy platforms for Tom to add his own content in following our guides in SEO content software.

As a result the website is seeing fantastic organic growth and beginning to be seen as an authoritative source for topics relating to hiking in Snowdonia.

Barmouth and the Jenga masters

We booked in to a lovely Airbnb which had stunning views over the sea, not far from the seaside town of Barmouth. Once we’d checked in Conor our web designer cooked delicious fajitas (man of hidden talents!) and we relaxed into the evening with a few drinks.

A few competitive games of Jenga followed, which probably didn’t help us with getting to sleep and being well rested for the early start!

The rugged Rhyd Ddu path

Not feeling too well rested despite the Airbnb being very comfortable, we drove an hour up the road to meet with Tom, our mountain guide for the hike.

We started from the Rhyd Ddu path which is apparently only climbed by 16% of people. It’s an excellent climb with some stunning views of the summit (we were lucky as it was a clear day).

Stunning scenery with steep drops!

Bwlch Main

We decided to hike the Bwlch Main path due to it being a bit more challenging along with a quieter route. Some parts of the path were very exposed with steep drops either side which did make it a little bit hair raising!

Tom at Walk Snowdonia was our expert guide for the day.

At this point the sole of Ben’s hiking boot decided to fall off! Luckily Tom had experienced this before and was well equipped as our guide, he had some cable ties and was able to strap his boot back together! Otherwise he’d be very gingerly descending the mountain without reaching the summit!

Snowfall at the summit of Mount Snowdon

As we got higher the temperature decreased and eventually there were patches of snow (snowball fight ensued). Eventually the last push and we made it to the summit! At this point it did actually start snowing, it was like polystyrene snow.

Glorious sunshine on the hike down!

Descending and fighter jet fly by

Coming down was actually just as demanding and maybe more so! Loose stones and gravel made it treacherous at times. By this point we were starting to feel very tired but we were inspired by the thought of fish and chips in Barmouth!

Halfway down and the roar of a fighter jet flying past from the nearby RAF airbase. We think they train around the rugged mountains and terrain, nice that they got our memo for a flyby too 😉

Finishing with fish and chips by the sea

What better way to end the day than well earned fish and chips with curry sauce by the beach, accompanied by the nearby seagulls (we think they followed us from Basepoint!).

The Targeted SEO team recently climbed The Rhyd Ddu Path with Tom at Walk Snowdonia. It was a fantastic day and we were blessed by having brilliant weather and guide.

Tom is an expert mountain climber and told us lots of interesting facts and history about the mountain as we ascended. I was also impressed with his ability to successfully help and guide one of our less confident team members to the summit, especially across some of the more challenging terrain.

My hiking boot sole also came unstuck and Tom was at the rescue with a cable tie! I highly recommend Walk Snowdonia and Tom and we hope to climb more mountains again with him in the future!

Future plans for Walk Snowdonia

Next we plan to design and develop a new website for Walk Snowdonia which will really make the website stand out as the industry leader within this tourism sector.

What an enjoyable team event and a brilliant thing to be able to treat our team to!
