Website Design & SEO Case Study for Bliss Financial Solutions
Bliss Financial Solutions came to Targeted SEO looking for the whole package: brand development, website design, WordPress development, local SEO, content strategy and ongoing website support.
The project was never about creating a cold, corporate mortgage website. Bliss needed a website that felt like Amanda and her business: friendly, reassuring, knowledgeable and approachable. Mortgage advice can feel intimidating, especially for first-time buyers, so the brand and website needed to take some of that pressure away.
Over several phases, we supported Bliss Financial with logo development, tone of voice, website design, technical SEO, local landing pages, service content, blog strategy, website refreshes, conversion improvements and ongoing website care and management.
The results have been steady rather than dramatic, but meaningful. Bliss Financial has built stronger local mortgage visibility, improved engagement from organic users, and a website that genuinely reflects the personality of the business.
I have been using Targeted SEO for a number of years and have always found them to be excellent at communication and the results are fantastic.

The Challenge
Bliss Financial needed a website and brand that could do several jobs at once. The business needed to look credible online, but it also needed to feel approachable. That is not always easy in financial services. Too formal and the site can feel cold. Too soft and it can lose authority.
The challenge was to create a website that could:
- Reflect Amanda’s personality and service style
- Make mortgage advice feel less intimidating
- Improve local search visibility
- Support first-time buyer content
- Explain mortgage services clearly
- Create stronger calls to action
- Work well on mobile
- Build trust through content, design and messaging
- Continue to evolve over time
This was also a modest, long-term website and SEO campaign. That meant the strategy had to be realistic. We could not do everything at once, so we focused on building and improving the right foundations over time.
Our Combined Website & SEO Approach
Brand Development & Tone of Voice
One of the first pieces of work was brand development. Bliss Financial already had a clear sense of what it wanted to be: customer-led, caring, informal, honest and reassuring. Our job was to turn that into a brand and website experience that felt consistent.
We worked on the brand essence, values, proposition, tone of voice and visual direction. The brand promise was simple: make the mortgage process simple and stress-free. That became a useful thread throughout the project. It influenced the copy, the design, the service messaging and the way the website spoke to users.

The tone of voice needed to be conversational, warm and straightforward. No jargon for the sake of it. No scaremongering. No “look how clever we are” financial language. Just clear mortgage advice, explained in a way that people could understand.
That might sound like a small thing, but for a mortgage broker website, it is important. The words on the page need to reassure people before they ever pick up the phone.
Logo & Visual Identity
We also supported Bliss Financial with logo development and brand styling. The logo direction was designed to feel clean, contemporary, memorable and friendly. It retained the soft purple and grey tones associated with the brand, giving the website a softer and more personal feel than many mortgage broker sites.
The identity needed to feel professional, but not corporate in the cold sense. That was the point. Bliss Financial is a mortgage broker, but the brand is really about helping people feel happier and more confident about their move. The visual identity helped bring that idea to life.

Website Design & Development
The website has been designed, developed and refreshed by Targeted SEO across several phases. The first stage was to create a stronger WordPress website that could support Bliss Financial’s services, locations and future content strategy. Later phases focused on improving the homepage, service structure, mobile user journey, calls to action and visual brand experience.
The website design needed to be soft, calm and clear.
It was built to:
- Reflect the Bliss Financial brand
- Create a more reassuring first impression
- Make mortgage services easier to understand
- Improve mobile usability
- Guide users towards contact options
- Support local landing pages
- Provide a platform for helpful content
- Make the website feel personal to Amanda and the business
Over time, the design strategy evolved further. We recommended refreshing the homepage, strengthening first-time buyer messaging, improving above-the-fold calls to action, splitting services more clearly, adding case studies, and using more personal content to build trust.
This is the kind of work that often matters just as much as rankings. A website can bring in traffic, but if it does not feel right when people arrive, it will struggle to convert. Bliss needed both.
Local SEO for Mortgage Broker Searches
Local SEO has been an important part of the Bliss Financial strategy from the start. Mortgage advice is often searched for locally. People may search for a mortgage broker in nearby areas because they want someone who understands the local market and feels accessible.
The website built strong visibility across several local mortgage searches, including terms around Darlington and surrounding areas.
Earlier reporting showed Bliss Financial claiming page one positions for relevant local searches in a relatively short period. These local pages also generated clicks to the website, showing that the local SEO work was not just creating visibility, but starting to bring users in.
Local pages became one of the strongest parts of the strategy. This made sense. For a boutique mortgage broker, local trust matters. Users are more likely to enquire when the website feels relevant to where they live and what they are trying to do.

Content Strategy for First-Time Buyers
As the campaign developed, first-time buyers became a key focus. This was a natural fit for the Bliss brand. First-time buyers often need reassurance, patience and plain English guidance. They have a lot of questions, and many of those questions are exactly the kind of thing Google can surface through helpful content.
The content strategy included blogs and service content around topics such as:
- Mortgage questions for first-time buyers
- Best places to live in County Durham
- Home buyer forms
- First-time buyer status
- Costs of running a home
- Mortgage broker support
- Bills for first-time buyers
- Moving house questions
- Mortgage advice in Darlington
This content helped Bliss Financial appear for users earlier in the decision-making journey. Not every searcher is ready to enquire straight away. Some are just trying to understand the process. But if the website helps them at that stage, it builds familiarity and trust. That is especially valuable for a mortgage broker with a warm, advice-led brand.

Adapting to AI Search
More recently, the strategy has had to account for changes in search behaviour. Google’s AI Overviews have changed how users interact with some informational search results. In some cases, impressions can rise while clicks fall because users get a summary directly in search.
Rather than seeing that as a reason to stop creating content, we treated it as a reason to improve the type of content being created.
For Bliss Financial, that meant focusing on:
- More expert-led content
- Stronger first-time buyer guidance
- Clearer service messaging
- Case studies
- Testimonials
- Video ideas
- Personal insight from Amanda
- Content that shows real experience, not just generic mortgage information
This is where smaller brands can actually have an advantage. They can sound more human. They can show personality. They can answer questions in a way that feels genuinely useful. Bliss Financial is well suited to that kind of content.

Web Design Refreshes & Conversion Improvements
The website has also been refreshed over time to better support conversions. The strategy included recommendations to improve the visual brand, create clearer calls to action, strengthen first-time buyer and new-build mortgage messaging, improve homepage content, and make contact options easier to use.
Mobile behaviour became especially important. Later reporting showed increased mobile usage, along with intent to call or use WhatsApp. That matters because mortgage enquiries do not always happen neatly through one form. Some users want to call. Some want to send a message. Some want to browse first and come back later. The website needed to make those options easy.
Recommended improvements included:
- Making calls to action more visible
- Improving contact forms
- Adding clearer next-step guidance
- Using more real imagery
- Creating case study templates
- Improving service page journeys
- Making mobile contact options easier to access
This is one of the reasons the Bliss website works well visually. It feels like the brand and gives users a calmer route through the mortgage process.
The results
Mortgage SEO Performance Results
This is not a case study where we would pretend the traffic results are huge, because they’re not! But they are still useful, and they show the website moving in the right direction within the limits of a modest campaign.
In Q1 2023, Organic Search accounted for 48.72% of traffic, with 229 organic users from a total of 470 users. Organic users also spent more time engaged than the average user, showing that search was bringing in a more relevant audience.

During that same period, the website generated 176,000 impressions and 171 clicks from Google Search, with the majority of clicks and impressions coming through local pages.

Later reporting showed stronger engagement and conversion signals.
In the September to November 2025 reporting period, organic performance strengthened, with clicks up 42%, CTR doubling, and average position improving from 44.2 to 20.1. Organic active users increased by 29%, new organic users increased by 30%, form submissions rose by 10.7%, and phone call events increased by 200%.
The website also continued to perform strongly across local mortgage search terms, with several Darlington and surrounding-area keywords holding page one positions. That is the most honest way to frame the result.

The campaign has not been about explosive national growth. It has been about creating a well-designed, trustworthy mortgage broker website, building local visibility, supporting first-time buyer content, and improving the quality of organic engagement over time.
What Made This Project Successful?
The success of this project is not just in the numbers. It is in the fit between the brand, the website and the audience.
Bliss Financial needed a website that felt like the business. Warm, helpful, clear and reassuring. The sort of site that makes someone think, “Okay, I can actually ask this person a question.”
That matters in mortgage advice. The website now does a much better job of reflecting Amanda’s style, supporting local visibility and helping users understand their options.
It is also a good example of why SEO-led web design is not always about chasing the biggest graph. Sometimes the job is to create a site that looks right, feels right, ranks for the right local terms, and gives a small business a strong enough platform to keep building.
For Bliss Financial, that platform is now in place.
